Clinique Moisture Surge - Extended thirst Relief

Clinique
  • Enjoy rapid refreshment and a full 24 hours of soothing moisture with an addictive by-a-waterfall feel. Advanced hydration boosters and a new botanical blend hold skin's moisture in balance through stressful shifts in humidity, indoors and out.
    Me
I received this moisturizer as a sample a while ago after making some purchases at a clinique counter. I believe that when it comes to samples, nobody does it like clinique.  They can give!.
I had a moisturizer at the time that I received this so it took me a while to actually do something with it.
The first time that I opened the Jar and dipped my fingers into it, I was simply amazed. It claims to offer intense hydration but it literally felt like water! It feels so cool when you apply it on the skin and believe me guys it does what it says it would, HYDRATE!!.
This is literally the only thing that I dare to use on my face during the dry season. I say this because I have very oily skin so I mostly use very light weight oil free moisturizers and during the dry season, most of them just don't cut it for me.
Moisturisation is an essential part of my skin care regimen. I tend to the get the most oily in the middle of my forehead, down he bridge if my nose and on my cheeks so apart from Jobajoba oil this is the only thing that gives me needed moisture  during dry weather without breaking me out. It is very light weight and like I mentioned previously, it feels just like water! It sinks beautifully into the skin without leaving the greasy feeling that you usually get after you use something intensely hydrating. Like most clinique products, it is fragrance and allergy tested.
I currently use this as a night time moisturizer because it does not have any SPF.

I highly recommend this product to people with acne prone skin who use Acne products like Benzoyl Peroxide which can be a bit drying.

EOS Lip balm - Summer Fruit

I recently ran out of my Maybelline baby lips and let me tell you guys, I felt like giving myself an award. Do you people know what it feels like to actually finish a tube of lip balm? without having your bag swallow it? your cupboard digest it ? your car bury it? the feeling is incredible!!
So as I was saying, I recently ran out of my baby lips and repurchasing it has been nothing short of a trial. Maybelline! Maybelline! Maybelline! how many times did I call you people? Please you guys should help us o! we are in need.

So since I couldn't get my hands on the Baby lips, I decided to try the EOS lip balm. This is not even a review, I don't even know what it is but I felt a need to inform you people that the EOS lip balm in summer fruit tastes like horse shit.  No I haven't tasted horse shit before but come on, it cannot not taste better than this seƱorita right here. Some reviewers out right said that it tasted like cat pee. Well chidimma has never been in close proximity with a cat so I wouldn't know.

Like I couldn't even look at the thing. The smell and the way that it tastes just completely put me off, I couldn't use it. Oh well, I have decided to buy another one since I still don't have a lip balm. I pray that I'm able to follow that one up with a review.

Has anyone tried the EOS lip balms? Please kindly recommend your favorite. Thank you :)

Product: Eos Lip Balm in Summer fruit
Price: N1,500

Tea Tree Oil

At a point in my life, I made it my business to buy anything recommended by specialists to help get rid of acne. A lot of people recommended tea tree oil at the time because of its antibacterial properties so I made it my business to get my hands on it. For those of us who do not know, Tea tree oil has tons of beauty benefits so I'll be sharing a few.

Acne
Tea tree oil has very strong antibacterial properties so when applied topically on the skin, it has the ability to destroy most of the bacteria that causes acne and also soothe already inflamed breakouts. I love using it whenever I decide to steam my face at home, I just put a few drops in the hot water that I'll be using.
Dandruff
If you are plagued by dandruff try adding just a tiny bit to your shampoo, you'd be surprised at how much this baby would help.
Nail infection
Because of its powerful anti fungal and anti viral properties, tea tree oil is ideal for healing  those pesky fungal infections that can occur on the toes.
Ringworm
Tea tree oil is quite effective for treating ringworm. About 3 years ago, I realized that I had a pesky patch of ring worm on my arm. If you guys saw the horror on my face when I actually realised what it was. If looks could kill, the thing would've shriveled and died on the spot. I actually thought at the time that I had some sort of worm under my skin but you see, situations like this make you love google. I did a little googling and alas realised that there was  no worm. Ring worm is actually a skin infection due to a fungus. I did a little research on how to get rid of it and almost every article that I read recommended tea tree oil. I applied it morning, afternoon and night on that area and within a week, my skin was back to normal.

Tea tree oil is very light weight and absorbs quite easily into the skin. This one is by The body shop and I bought it from a beauty supply store in Enugu called Red wrappings.

Kayge Cosmetics - Swatched

Mist - sheer nude with pink undertone
Flawless - nude
Pop - Multifunctional lip gloss. This bad boy goes on clear but gently adjusts to a pink shade that suits your skin tone. It smells amazing.
Orchid - Dark berry color with specks of shimmer
Cherry Pop - Beautiful red color, applies like a dream.
Sugar Plum - This lipstick is a perfect dupe for mac's rebel and wet n wild's sugar plum fairy. It also applies amazing, currently one of my favorite lipsticks ever.
Classic Red - Bright red color
Nude - Nude color with pink undertone
Toast - Lovely brown shade. It is the perfect brown for my nude lipsticks, not too light, not too dark.
Berry - Gorgeous berry color. Perfect for lining sugar plum.

If you follow me on Instagram, you'll probably know that I put up a picture of these goodies a while back.
The lipsticks all have a finish similar to mac's amplified finish which isn't shiny or super matte. They  have amazing color pay off and apply so well. The glosses also apply well and like I've mentioned in previous posts, they do not flake. Kayge is one of my favorite Nigerian brands and I honestly can't wait till they start making more that just Lip products.
They recently changed their packaging and I love love love how funky it looks.

Balenciaga Florabotanica

BALENCIAGA
"A scent from the botanical gardens of Balenciaga Paris, inspired by the woman who is beautiful but dangerous. An enchanting fragrance composed of a green accord twisted by an exhilarating note of juvenile freshness".
ME
I'm going to start off by making it clear that I was ready to hate this perfume. I don't do flowery or fruity when it comes to scents, especially fruity. They tend to linger in the most annoying way so I just stay away. I bought this madam (yes I decided to call her madam) sometime in september. I bought it at duty free so it was a lot cheaper than you would normally get it in stores.
I wanted to try something new but you see, I'm not very good at describing scents. I tried explaining what I wanted to one of the ladies in the store but most of the things that she recommended were so far from what I actually wanted. My sister Nneoma loves flowery and fruity so communicating with the lady helping was such a breeze. This was the last thing she whipped up after it literally felt like all hope was lost.
Perfume shopping for me can get really annoying eh, tueh! my brain and nose usually start hissing and sighing after the 4th and 5th sniff.
At first blast, it seemed  a bit too much but after a second sniff, I went straight to the counter to pay. I'm surprised that some reviewers actually think that this perfume smells youthful, youthful gini? It smells very mature and sophisticated to me, but not in an old lady kind of way. I love this for days that I want to kick ass, those days that you fell like a woman and you are not sorry? Yup those days . It smells like rose and aqua and something else that I have no name for at first but gradually softens into a lovely musky scent. The bottle/packaging? one word FIERCE.

Product - Balenciaga Florabotanica

Quantity - 50ml Price - It usually retails for about $70 to $100 but I honestly can't remember how much it cost me. It shouldn't cost you more than N16,000 though.

Klean Color Nail Lacquer - Gold bright

If you guys remember, I had this nail polish in my last "They deliver" post. Prior to that purchase, I'd been on a very serious hunt for a decent gold polish.
I wasn't really expecting anything spectacular, I just wanted something that I could use as a base for most of my glitter polishes that had gold in them.
Gold Bright is a lovely gold shade with finely crushed gold glitter.
I'm not a fan of frosty nail polish because they tend to apply very streaky but this bad boy really impressed me. With the first coat, there is a bit of streakiness but after the second coat, you really won't be able to tell. It applies smoothly and believe me, two coats is all you need. It has a foil finish and looks amazing when topped off with a  high shine top coat.

Cover Girl Queen Collection Natural Hue Bronzer - Ebony bronze

Cover Girl
Mineral-enriched formula pampers skin and controls oil, for a sun-kissed glow without the shine. Beautifully matches skin tones from Rich Sand to True Ebony.
Me
After seeing a lot of Youtubers, use this stuff, it literally shot up to number 2 on my list of most coveted items. It took me while to get my hands on it though. I've had it for a while now and let me tell you guys, I LOVE THIS STUFF.  I know that it is a bronzer and all but I've never ever used it for serious bronzing because I believe that it is way too dark for me. It is perfect for warming up the complexion, when applied lightly. I use it more to contour and I think it is very good. It has great colour pay off so application when using the right brush is a breeze.
It is a rich dark brown powder with with serious red undertones. It also has bits of shimmer that come in handy whenever I actually decide to use it as bronzer.

Clarins Skin Perfectors/ Bright Plus Collection

The Clarins bright plus brightening  hydrating day lotion (Yup, thats a mouthful)  is my all time
favorite moisturiser. I've been using it for close to 2 years now and I don't see myself ever stoping. It has done wonders for my skin! I look at myself in the mirror  these days and I'm like Chidimma is this  really you? lol. I recently ran out of my current jar, went to montaigne's place to repurchase and they didn't have it in stock. The people at the store even went on to tell me that they haven't had it in a while and oh boy, come and see panic.
I finally saw this limited edition collection in another store and I just closed my eyes and bought it. The  price was a very round gigantic ball of eba to swallow but I didn't have a choice. It was either this or paranoia so I just respected myself and went with this. The normal moisturiser usually sells for about N9,000 but this set sold for almost twice that price.

   This collection includes:
A full sized Brightening Hydrating Day Lotion with spf 20
A sample sized Brightening Repairing Night Cream
A sample  sized Ecran Multi-Protection Day screen spf 40
   A makeup purse

I have a detailed skin care routine post coming up and I will be talking about the brightening day lotion  in more detail in that post.  It is simply a must have for anyone who suffers from any kind of skin discolouration on their face.

Sunny Isle Jamaican Black Castor oil

Sunny Isle
Sunny Isle Jamaican Black Castor Oil is processed the traditional way. Our Organic seeds are roasted and ground by a manual Grinder and then the crushed beans are boiled to extract the 100% pure, dark brown, organic oil. It's the best quality oil on the market. Why you may ask? Compared to other brands it is the darkest Jamaican Black Castor Oil because we roast our beans longer which produces more Ash Content in our oil than any other oil on the market. More ash content increases the effectiveness of the oil. Therefore the Sunny Isle brand will strengthen increase the length of your hair faster than any other brands on the market today.
Me
I've had this for a couple of months now. A lady recommended it after I had a horrible braid experience. There are different types of castor oils but the black Jamaican castor oil always comes highly recommended especially when it comes to hair growth. It took me a while to actually cop this because for some reason, Casabella was always out of stock whenever I showed up.

I've been using it a lot lately with visible results. I apply it mostly on on my edges, it is very moisturising so I just massage it into the scalp and apply what's left on my palm on my hair.  I also use it on days that I deep condition, I add a little bit of it to the conditioner together with a few other oils and stir.
This is by far the thickest oil that I've ever used. The oil has a dark brownish colour, it is in no way as dark as it appears in the bottle. It has a roasted nutty smell to it, a bit strong when you first apply it but no, it does not linger.
The only down side for me is the bottle, I wish it came in a dropper bottle.

Has anyone tried  tried Jamaican Castor oil?

Ajali handmade natural cosmetics

I received these products from the lovely Ify of Ajali natural hand made cosmetics. Before she contacted me, I already had plans of getting my hands on the body butter soufflƩ, this decision was made after reading a couple of reviews online.

I've had these products for a while and you guys can tell from the pictures that I've done serious damage, especially to the body soufflƩ . I'm going to run out by the end of next week and I'm definitely repurchasing.

AJALI:
Ajali creates 100% natural handmade cosmetics using ingredients indigenous to West Africa such as unrefined shea and cocoa butter, virgin coconut oil, extra virgin olive oil and aloe vera gel. They are a proudly Nigerian company set up to promote local industry and create awareness for living a healthy life.

I was sent products from the Radiant glow line so I'm just going to get right into it.

BUTTER BODY SOUFFLƉ

WHAT AJALI SAYS :
This moisturiser is made with pure whipped Shea and cocoa butter infused with organic essential oils. It melts instantly onto your skin for a smooth and easy finish. Perfect for everyday use as a body or hair moisturiser to rejuvenate skin cells, seal in moisture and even provides mild sun protection!

WHAT I THINK:
Ehm I think I'm addicted to this stuff. I have dry skin and this is baby has really impressed me. The skin on my face is very oily but everything from my neck down is dry. It moisturises so well!. I always buy body lotions that have moisturising or hydrating clearly written on them  but most of the time they still don't do that much especially when it comes to my elbows, knees and feet. These three areas can turn white before you say Jack Robinson.
Like it says in the product description, it literally melts before you are done rubbing your palms together. I love the fact that it feels like warm oil while I'm working it into the skin. If you have oily skin, I highly recommend that you keep this away from your face because of how moisturising it is.
It literally smells like Vicks lemon plus!!! some people might not like this but me I don't mind. It makes me feel edible :D.
I believe that this is one of the best investments that  you can make this coming harmattan o. I promise that when you are done using this, there shall be no whiteness/dryness whatsoever.

RAW SUGAR POLISH

WHAT AJALI SAYS:
This gentle scrub is suitable for use all over your face and body. Made from raw brown sugar and organic essential oils. It's perfect for everyday skin buffing. Suitable for sensitive skin.

WHAT I THINK:
From the pictures above, you guys can tell that I haven't used this as much as I've used the body soufflĆ©. I doesn't mean that it's not good, it quite simply means that I'm not a scrub person. My face is sensitive to a lot of scrubs, so I tend to exfoliate with AHAs or scrubs that don't have a lot of grit. I've used this on my body on days that I've had time because to me eh bathing is serious business. I do not waste any time whatsoever in the bathroom. I've used this mostly at night and every time that I do, I promise myself  that I will use it again tomorrow because of how good my skin feels afterwards but from the last picture, you guys can obviously tell that I have failed myself, smh.
This scrub leaves your body feeling so soft and pampered, almost like you've applied something very moisturising on your entire body!! It is infused with essential oils so you don't feel raw or squeaky when you are done using it.
It has a sweet lemony scent as well and looks so good if you ask me. There is something about the colour and the way that it sparkles.

Shipping is calculated by the total weight of your  order. The more you have in your cart, the more you will likely pay for shipping.

They ship with USPS which is the US's local postal service so your order will be delivered to you through NIPOST.

I was charged $18.20 for shipping the package in this post and I believe it's not bad. Some Nigerian websites charge up to N2,000 for delivery inside this same country so I believe that their shipping is ok.

I called the customer care number on the website after I placed my order because I wasn't given an estimated delivery date and the lady that I spoke to told me that shipping to Nigeria usually takes 4 to 6 weeks.

My order came  roughly 4 weeks after it was placed. The delivery man told me that my order had been with them for over a week. He said that that my parcel would have been delivered earlier if not for the fact that their was no phone number on the package. So give or take, the parcel probably got to Enugu 2 weeks after it was shipped.

I honestly don't know why there is never a phone number on my parcels that come through NIPOST. I always fill in a number in all my billing forms. The phone number space is always marked as important so you can't even leave the page without putting something there!!

I chose the cheapest shipping option that they had and with it, you don't get a tracking number.

I PURCHASED:
Two Ardell double up lashes in 203 and 205
Two china glaze nail polishes in Kiwi cool - Ada and Flip flop fantasy
One NYX eye shadow base
One klean colour nail polish in Gold bright
One wet n wild lipstick in sugar plum fairy - This I was really excited about!!!  I've been looking for this particular shade for ages.
One Sally Hansen nail growth miracle serum

Too faced shadow insurance glitter glue

If guys can remember, I stated in THIS review that I will have to keep using the Ben Nye glitter glue till I found a better alternative. The reason I even started looking for an alternative in the first place is because it clearly states on the bottle that it wasn't recommended for the immediate eye area.

I did a bit of googling and this baby came up. It is very safe and also highly recommended by most people who have used it .

WHAT TOO FACED SAYS:

What It Is:
An extension of our best-selling Shadow Insurance Eye Shadow Primer, Glitter Glue is specifically formulated to lock-down glitter and enhance its reflective quality. Our colorless cream formula grabs and holds loose glitters, pigments and shimmers in place, insuring they won’t come off until you take them off.

More To Love:
  • Immaculate Application: Our formula eliminates messy fall out. Glitters, loose powders and shimmer products instantly lock down. Never experience a face full of glitter again!
  • Easy to Use: Blend a small bead of Glitter Glue directly onto lids or anywhere you want Glamour Dust or shimmering products to adhere. Using your finger or a small shadow brush, press the formula onto lids for an iridescent lockdown effect.

WHAT I THINK:

This product is really good. It is very tacky and goes on clear so it works perfectly when applied on both bare skin on eyeshadow.  It is very very sticky and this helps glitter adhere to it so well. It works well with both glitter and loose pigment.
After applying it on my lids, I just  use a synthetic brush to press/pat in the glitter.  I don't think I'll be purchasing more glitter glue in the near future, this quite simply does the job.

Maybelline Nigeria

So maybelline is finally here in Naija, yippee!!

I'm sure everyone knows maybelline naa, they are notorious for their very good inexpensive mascaras. If you still do not know them, google is your best friend o.

The brand was officially launched in Lagos late last month with an event that had  mostly people in the entertainment and beauty industry in attendance.  We were basically introduced to the brand and after that, there was a lot of mingling.

I was able to speak to someone on the Maybelline team before I left and she shed light on a few things;

1) They are releasing just the colossal volum' express mascara and the colossal Kajal eyeliner, every other thing will be gradually introduced to the Nigerian market with time.
To say that I disappointed when I heard this is an understatement !! I love love love their colour tattoos and I was already making plans to get my hands on them ASAP! but oh well..

2) There will be no stand alone store.
I was actually very pleased with this bit of information because it means that their products are going to be available in Enugu without too much hassle. Most brands that have lauched themselves on the Nigerian soil actuallly do not have stand alone stores outside the country. Take sleek for  example. Sleek is actually a UK brand and their products are mostly only available in Superdrug and on their website. Same thing with Maybelline, Maybelline is literally a drug store brand. Their products are usually available in Boots and supredrug in the UK.  In the US,  Maybelline is also mostly available in drugstores. So I'm happy getting their products through stores like casabella or even health plus. If they start opening stores eh, Enugu might see one in 5 years time.

We all left the event with goody bags so I will mainly be talking about the content of my bag in this post.

I received the Colossal volum' express mascara, one colossal kajal eyeliner and one maybelline baby lips.

Maybelline Volum' Express Mascara - This to me is  an ok mascara. like I mentioned in a previous post, I have very unruly lashes so most mascaras don't work for me. I'm sure this would work great for most people but the wand was just not made for me.

Maybelline Colossal kajal Eyeliner - This is amazing. It reminds me of the mac feline eye kohl. It is so creamy and goes on smoothly. This liner is so black, I don't think that the last picture did it any justice.
I use this mostly on my waterline and it doesn't irritate my eyes. It lasts all day and it also doesn't smudge so it is definitely a winner. Its is a retractable liner so you don't have to stress yourself with sharpening.

Maybelline Baby lips in Quenched - This is honestly one of the best lip balms that I've ever used. It hydrates so well!! I love the fact that it is not waxy. My lips feel so soft after application and it also smells amazing.

Yves saint Laurent - Baby doll mascara

I have very very unruly lashes. They literally grow every which way. Some of them grow upwards, some grow side ways, some grow down wards and then there are the hybrids that grow in very tight curls, like they just grow and curl into themselves, it is just very frustrating. I've grown to love them though, they quite simply have a mind of their own.

When I started using make up, my lashes made mascara application a pain in the back side. I realised without too much stress the ones that worked and the ones that didn't. As I type, I think I've only used 2 mascaras that did me any good. There is one from clinique and then there is this one and with both mascaras, I think that the brushes/wand did most of the magic.

If you have very curly or unruly lashes, the mascara wand/brush is key. You need something that can actually separate the trees in the jungle so the type of brush that the mascara comes with is highly important. Wands that are well spaced will most likely give you the separation you want.

I bought this after asking a lot of questions and reading a lot of reviews. The lady that recommended it to me swore by it. She had it on at the time and believe me, her lashes looked amazing. I just took on look at her lashes and decided to go for it.

With that said,

WHAT YVES SAINT LAURENT SAYS:
Yves Saint Laurent celebrates Haute Couture with a high tech attitude.  Mascara Volume Effet Faux Cils Baby Doll.
Wide open, her eyes attract all the attention.  A falsely innocent sensuality.  Stunning.  Baby Doll.

With one stroke our brush and patented formula magnifies your eyes through the innovative structure of dual-length bristles and intense color pigment for defined volume that last for 24 hours.  The multifaceted brush alternates thick, widely spaced bristles to coat and magnify your lashes, while finer, more closely spaced bristles define even the shortest lashes, one by one, from the root to the tip.

WHAT I THINK:
I almost took this back after using it the first day. This IS  the most expensive mascara that I own so I wasn't ready to settle for nonsense. I made plans to go back to Sephora and return it  but I used it again the next day and decided that it wasn't bad at all.

I've had it for so long now and I can honestly say that this is a really good mascara. It separates, defines and lengthens your lashes. Your guys know that I'm a sucker for good packaging and the packaging is simply gorgeous. It looks and feels like you actually payed a good amount of money for it.

Price - $30

NYX Blushes

I bought these babies sometime in August, been using them for a while now so I'm going to tell you guys what I think.

WHAT NYX SAYS:
Our pressed powder blush delivers sheer, silky color that glides on, blends beautifully and creates a natural glow. The formula is richly-pigmented and lasts for hours.

WHAT I THINK:
For once I think I completely agree with a product description. These blushes are ahhmazing. They are very comparable to sleek blushes but I think you get better colour pay off with these. I just wish that I was smart enough buy more. The packaging to me is nice but not sturdy, so you have to be careful with it. I also love the quilted design on the top, very SELZY.

COCOA: This is red brown shade with matte finish. It is the least pigmented of the bunch but the colour is very build-able.

DESERT ROSE: Gorgeous burgundy pink with little shimmer. I generally stay away from pink blushes but this I love.

RED/ROUGE: Intense matte red shade with blue undertone. The pigmentation is something you should not play with. A little goes a loooooooong way.

PRICE: $4.99
WHERE TO BUY:
I bought this while I was in the US.
If you live in Nigeria, try Gifty's Daughter. They have a very impressive NYX stand.

House of Tara

I'm sure we all know about House of Tara. They've been around for ages (literally).
If you are not familiar with the brand, House of tara is an indigenous make up brand that  offers a wide range of makeup and skin care products here in Nigeria. They recently changed their packaging and also introduced a couple of new products. Their packaging is black now and I absolutely love it.

I was sent a couple of products early last month to use and possibly review. Some of the products that I was sent have been around for ages and a couple of them are from their new collection.

I'm just going to get right into it:

HOUSE OF TARA EYESHADOW TRIO IN OSENKEN - I have the shadow trio in Uyayi so I honestly wasn't expecting anything different in terms of pigmentation. This little guy surprised me! When I first swatched it, I wasn't really impressed. I had to swipe some of the colours in it at least three times before I could come up with the amount of colour that I wanted. It took me a while to realise that the problem was from what I was doing and not not the shadow itself. I used the dark purple colour in in an upcoming tutorial and completely fell in love. The shadows didn't show up so well when I swatched them because I was using my fingers. Brushes on the other hand, any type of non synthetic makeup brush loves this stuff. They pick the colours up so nicely, you ma self will even be shocked, lol.

HOUSE OF TARA BLUSH IN AMAYRA - This is a gorgeous coral red blush. Its is super  super pigmented so a little goes a long way. It reminds me of sleek's blush in scandalous but the two shades are slightly different. With this, all you need to do is dab your blush brush once into the colour and you are good to go. There shall be no swirling!! if you swirl your blush brush in this colour before applying it on your cheeks, you are on your own!

HOUSE OF TARA BRONZER IN MEDUIM -  This is a gorgeous gold highlighter, looks lovely when applied lightly on the apple of the cheeks.

HOUSE OF TARA HIGH SHINE LIP STAIN IN NANDI - This is one of my  favourites!!. It is  a gorgeous fuchsia pink with shimmer. It looks and applies like a gloss but it is more pigmented than any gloss I've ever used. It applies evenly and that makes it a dream to work with.

HOUSE OF TARA MATTE LIP COLOUR IN JEMILA - This I absolutely love!!. I won't be speaking too much grammar where this lipstick is concerned so  I  calmly suggest that you try out at least one matte lip colour where ever you see Tara products on display. Jemila is a gorgeous red colour. I used it in my last makeup tutorial but with a darker lip pencil.

HOUSE OF TARA EYEBROW PENCIL IN BROWN - I'm not gonna lie, I haven't really used this product and this is because It is way darker than any eyebrow pencil that I own. If you have used this, feel from to leave a comment down below.

HOUSE OF TARA EYESHADOW PRIMER - I first tried this out  when I was playing around with my friend's makeup. I was really impressed so I made a mental note to buy it whenever I could. I wanted to buy it at the last Lagos  makeup fair but it was sold out by the time I got to the House of Tara stand. It feels waxy and a little bit oily in the pan but when applied, It feels perfect.  Its is slightly sticky and this helps shadow adhere to it very well.

Has anyone tried anything from House of Tara?

Beauty Blender

This is one of those products that I chose to ignore for the longest time. I for the life of me couldn't get myself to pay anything more than N1,000 for a makeup sponge, kilode?. I kept telling myself that there was no big deal shaa.
Little did I know that this was not just a makeup sponge, I'm sure that it's laughing at me now.

WHAT BEAUTY BLENDER SAYS:

Now you can look like a movie star without the pricey services of a major make up artist. Introducing Beautyblender, the ultimate make up sponge applicator. Invented by top Hollywood make up artist Rea Ann Silva, Beautyblender has been created to leave you with a professional finish and a flawless complexion. Silva knows that the key to a perfect face is simple: a perfect blend. So forget your fingers or sharp-edged triangular sponges, these application methods waste make up and can leave visible streaks.
Beautyblender’s patent-pending elliptical shape makes application foolproof by allowing you to access hard-to-reach areas with stunning ease. Its suede texture is sensual to the touch and its unique curves fit the contours of your face, leaving your make up dazzling and undetectable. Beautyblender is latex free, non-allergenic and odor free.

WHAT I THINK:

This bad boy is absolutely worth the hype. It applies and blends my under eye concealer like a dream. The shape makes it easy to use and it gives very even coverage. I use this to apply and blend cream products which is mostly what I use on my face.

The only downside to this product is washing it. I abhor washing it, Tueh!! I know it has a cleanser and all that but biko, I just can't be bothered.

I  decided to get the black because apart from purple, black is next best thing, hehehe.

New in - Mac

I've collected quite a few Mac products in the past  couple of months so I'm going to be talking about them in this post. The eyeshadows didn't make it here though, I'll be talking about them in an upcoming post.
I purchased most of the products here while I was in the US, the rest I bought from the new Mac store in the palms shopping mall.

MAC BRUSH CLEANSER - This is my all time favourite brush cleanser. I've been using this for years and I'm yet to replace it with anything. It is very effective and perfect for cleansing your brushes in between use. To get the most use out of it, I pour it into a spray bottle. It helps prevent waste.
Purchased from - Mac, The palms shopping mall
Price - N3,300

MAC FACE AND BODY - I decided to purchase this because I wanted something with very sheer coverage. I've seen a lot of people rave about this foundation and I liked it after I tried it on in the store so I decided to give it try. I bought the 50ml bottle I felt it was safer to start with a smaller bottle and not the 120ml bottle. I haven't really used this well enough to give an honest review so I'll be doing a proper review in the future.
Price - $27

MAC MINERALIZED SKIN FINISH IN GOLD DEPOSIT - This is a gorgeous gorgeous highlighter. I apply this very lightly on the apple of my cheeks for a nice glow. I'm not big on highlighters because my skin is very oily but I absolutely love the way this baby looks on my skin.
Purchased from - Mac, The palms shopping mall
Price - N6,300

MAC BLUSH IN RAIZIN - I wonder why it took me so long to buy this? WHAAT!! I've been wearing this blush almost everyday since I bought it . Raizin is a dark berry red colour  (if that make any sense). It look amazing on my skin tone and I think its a must have for all women of colour.
Price - $21

MAC PRESSED PIGMENT IN BLACK GRAPE - This is a lovely egg plant colour with multi pearl. This product is very pigmentend and applies like a dream. I love that you get little or no fall out during application. This pigment is very sheer when applied dry but opaque when applied wet.
Price - $21

MAC LIP PENCIL IN MAGENTA - Gorgeous fuchsia colour, very very pigmented. I absolutely look forward to wearing this alone.
Price - $15

MAC LIP PENCIL IN CORK - This is one of those lip pencils that make unwearable lipsticks wearable. It is a very neutral colour, goes well with all my nude lipsticks.
Price -$15

MAC FRECKLETONE - This is a nude peachy colour with a lustre finish. Looks gorgeous when lined with cork or any brown lipliner. This is one of those colours that I  can't wear straight off the tube.
Price - $15

MAC VEGAS VOLT- Vibrant coral colour with an amplified finish. This lipstick is very creamy and also very pigmented.
Price - $15

MAC IMPASSIONED - Vivid fuchsia colour with an amplified finish. Girl about town is the literally the only pink mac lipstick that I own. I wanted to buy a lighter pink shade and this looked lovely when I tried it on.
Purchased from - Mac, the Palms shopping mall, Lekki.
Price - N3,800

Becca ever-matte poreless priming perfector

I was in the states throughout the month of August so I will reviewing some of the products that I bought on that trip.

The Becca ever matte pore less priming perfector is currently my favourite foundation primer ever. I think I'm so impressed because it is one of those products that actually does what it says it would. I have very oily skin so anything that keeps my face matte for more than 2 hours is a must have. I walked into Sephora and asked a sales rep what primer she would recommend for oily skin and she immediately suggested that I try this one. I didn't buy it immediately though I made it my business to read as many reviews as I could before finally giving in.

WHAT BECCA SAYS:
Oil control primer that perfects for an all-day matte, smooth complexion while minimising pores.

WHAT I THINK:
This is honestly the first foundation primer that actually wowed me. Like I said before, It does exactly what it says it would. It sets extremely matte so you have to be very fast during application. I apply this only on the parts of my face where I really need it ( My forehead, Nose, cheeks and chin) and a little goes a long way. This is one of those products that you don't apply in a rush. I noticed that you get better results by gently patting it into the skin and not rubbing it in.

I don't wear this primer every time I apply foundation though, I mostly use this on those special days when I want my foundation to stay put with little or no touch  up.

Kayge Cosmetics: Review and swatches

LIP GLOSSES

LIPSTICKS

LIP STAINS

LIP PENCILS

I recieved theses babies about a month ago from the CEO of kayge cosmetics. I've played around with almost everything here and I'm going to give you guys my honest opinion.

I was very excited when I received these because I already loved the only Kayge product that I own.
If you missed my first post on Kayge , Kayge cosmetics is an indigenous make up brand that currently specialises in lip products.

WHAT I THINK:
I've been using these products a ALOT lately and I absolutely believe that the are worth giving a try

THE GLOSSES apply evenly and have amazing colour pay off. They do not flake!! I mentioned this in my last review and I'm saying it again. They still look nice a couple of hours after application.

THE LIPSTICKS all have a little sheen to them. They are not matte but that doesn't mean that they are glossy or anything. They are very moisturising so you do not have bother or worry about your lips looking dry. They are very pigmented so you don't need a lot of layers to make the colours appear true.

THE LIP STAINS are very similar to the sleek pout polish. I was actually blown  away with the colour pay off, I expected them to be very sheer but they were not. They are very very moisturising and are perfect for  days you don't want to do too much. A little dab here and there and you are good to go. They feel just like lip balm .

THE LIP PENCILS  are very soft and creamy, they don't feel like most lip pencils that I own.  I had hard time sharpening them at first because they kept breaking off but it took me a while to realise that all I had to do was go easy on the sharpening. They feel more like lip crayons to me and I believe that they could be easily worn alone without  problem.

  • After it dried completely I applied two coats of Forever fashion colour in No 96 and two coats of Sally Hansen nail polish in White on (300) in stripes on a makeup sponge.
  • Next I gently stamped/dabbed  the nail polish that I applied on the sponge directly unto my nails (minus the middle finger)  till I got the desired effect. (If you feel that the polish isn't  showing up properly as you apply, don't hesitate to reapply thin coats on the sponge).
  • With a dotting tool dipped into the Forever fashion colour in No 96 I created random dots on my my middle finger
  • Then I applied two coats of seche vite fast drying top coat on all my nails. This will give your manicure needed shine and help the colours blend perfectly.
  • I finished off by cleaning my nail area and cuticles with acetone and a nail brush. You can clean up with nail polish remover and some cotton buds. I prefer to use actone (or nail disslover)  for clean ups  because acetone gets the polish off faster.

Happy Independence Day!!
I pray that things get better than they are, I pray for peace. I pray that one day, this country will be used to others as an example of what it is to achieve the impossible. Nigeria has so much potential! I pray that we all realise our dreams of a better tomorrow.

Udoka (Peace is greater)

So I want to start this post with a disclaimer, I did not go to make up school o! I do not have any kind professional training  whatsoever when it comes to makeup. I always get the where did you learn to makeup question and I always reply youtube, youtube and lots of practice. I still have a lot to learn but God dey.

I started playing around with makeup because I used to have very bad skin. I was breaking out a lot at the time so I thought that covering everything up with makeup was going to solve the problem (boy was I wrong, smh) It took me a while to realise that for makeup to actually look good, your skin had to look good.

I figured out how to take care of my skin and makeup became nothing but  fun.

From the pictures above, you guys can clearly see that I have a friend from Imo state who is almost white, freckles and all (odiegwu).  The shade of foundation that I used on her face, I probably won't be touching in a long time. Me and my baby Udoka go way back, having a friend who has always been there since your JSS1 is not beans, lol. She was like Dimma are you sure that red lipstick will look good on me? I literally wanted to pinch her mouth. O makwa ka osi acha? (does she know how fair she is) kilode? Green lipstick would look good on her!

She came to visit last week so we decided to play with her face,

Sam Fine for fashion fair

I've been eyeing the supreme colour  collection for quite some time now . I always walk up to stands or shelves where the collection is on display just to stare at the gorgeous packaging and after that I always turn around and walk away. Nope fashion fair did nothing to me, Yes I know who sam fine is, Yes I've read reviews on some of the products in this collection but but but... Chidimma cannot explain why she does not care sometimes.

I received these babies a while back from the lovely funke of Gifty's Daughter. After I picked up my package, I remember pausing for like 5 minutes to touch and stare at everything (you guys know how I love good packaging, lol).

I received the two eyeshadow palettes in the collection - Tunisian Nights and Amalfi Coast.
The only lipgloss in the collection- Canary Diamond and
Three lipsticks - Pink ParfaitWhispering rose and Moroccan spice.

Yes o, I was definitely dulling when it came to this collection. Everything feels amazing!

Tunisian Nights and Amalfi Coast are two gorgeous palettes. I can definitely see myself doing a lot with the two of them. The colour pay off is not a joke and I will be creating two different looks from the two different palettes in the future.Yes I like them like that, lol. I intend to create looks off several palettes for you guys so please keep checking.

Canary Diamond is hands down one of the best things I've ever used. Its a clear gloss with lots of gold shimmer. It is without a doubt my favourite thing from the entire collection. It has a thick consistency which immediately made me cautious but believe me, my worries were  quickly forgotten because this baby applies like a dream!. It looks amazing alone as you guys can tell from the picture above and also looks gorgeous over any lip colour.

Pink Parfait is a lovely bright pink colour with blue undertone.
Whispering rose is a great neutral pink colour.
Moroccan spice is a bright coral red colour.
All the lipsticks have a rich creamy finish which is just as good because I haven't really been into matte lipsticks of late. The texture makes touch ups very very easy. I did not line my lips before applying any of these colours because I wanted them to appear as true as possible.

I still can't get past how gorgeous the packaging is. I also love the fact that it doesn't feel cheap. You know when things look this pretty and  you actually bother to touch them, just to realise that they feel very plasticky.  These don't feel that way at all.

Kayge cosmetics lipgloss - Blush

I honestly didn't know anything about this brand till I saw them at the lagos makeup fair. Like I said in a previous post, the packaging was what drew me in. I loved how sleek their products looked and how organised their section was.
Kayge cosmetcs is a Nigerian makeup line that currently specialises on lip products. The  line consists of lipsticks, lip stains, lip liners and lip glosses.

I went to the makeup fair with my friend and for some reason, we both kept walking back to their stand to swatch the products that they had on display. At the end of the day, we both settled for the shade blush. I decided on this colour because I felt that it would look good on days that I didn't want my lips looking too neutral or too bright and I also wanted to use it to tone down some of my neutral or pale pink lipsticks that were way too bright.

This lipgloss is a gorgeous coral colour and has an amazing colour payoff. It applies evenly and holds up pretty well. It also doesn't flake which I think is very very Important when it comes to glosses because I'm sure that we can all agree that there is nothing more annoying than a gloss that flakes on you for no good reason.

Acrylic Lipstick Holder

I've been looking for something like this for the longest time. For some weird reason, I always seem to have a problem when it comes to storing my lipsticks. I deliberate for ages and at the end of the day I always end up throwing everything into a jar or some sort of little basket. It doesn't sound bad right? oya Imagine yourself running late for this very important meeting and you need your ruby woo. You didn't even do much to your face, there was no time but you know deep down that a red lipstick would  make everything ok, and all you want is to grab it and run but every single time you dip your hand into the jar/basket, you come up with the wrong lipstick and at the end of the day you just pour everything out  *sigh* This is me 90% of the time.

I bought this acrylic holder from the lovely Chi Chi of Blazy fashion. She put up a picture of one on  her Instagram and I emailed  her immediately. I picked it  up from her last week and I've been in love ever since.

There are enough slots to hold 24 lipsticks and it feels quit sturdy! I didn't expect it to feel and look the way it does, I expected something more fragile but trust me guys this baby is quite strong and glossy.

How do you store you lipsticks?

I am soooooooooooooooo sorry!. My story is very long and I'm absolutely sure that most of you don't want hear it.

Moving from one state to another one especially when you have semi permanent things tying you down is not easy. Yes o, I finally moved back home so for the meantime, I no longer live in lagos. I got to Enugu and realised that my Internet Service provider acts drunk here so my wahala automatically  increased. I'm finally settled thank God, so posting is going to be regular from now onwards, more than regular sef. I have so much to show you guys so I'll be updating daily.

I went for the 2nd Lagos Makeup fair last month and I've been dying to share with you guys. It was so much fun believe me, my friend Fejiro can attest to that. The fair was a makeup lover's heaven!! There were tons of vendors . From the ones most of us are familiar with to the ones I knew nothing about, there was also entertainment and dare I say cake!!! the whole thing was just amazing. I met most of the people that I planned to meet, at a point I'd seen everyone except sisi yemmie so I made it my business to hunt her down, lol.

I didn't go for last year's event but this one was very organised! I was really really Impressed.

The last picture shows my very tiny haul. I try as much as possible to control myself when I have make up staring at me everywhere I turn so I think I did a pretty good job. I bought the Maybelline falsies volume express mascara from My Makeup Ng, a lip gloss from Kayge cosmetics in the shade blush ( their packaging was super cute and I'm a sucker for good packaging so I couldn't pass them up) and two wet n wild lipsticks from Gifty's daughter. The lovely Funke of Gifty's daughter ( I mumuishly did not take a picture with her, in short I didn't take pictures with a couple of people because I was busy walking up and down) gave me the shadow shields for free, I was shocked believe me. I wanted to give her a speech on how grateful I was but I didn't know where to start so I just respected myself and said thank you. I've seen the shadow shields a couple of times, I've seen people use it but every time I wanted to buy it, the price chased me away with a stick, the reasonable part of my brain just goes you can just use tape so why waste money? *sigh*.

I will definitely follow up with reviews so you guys should please keep checking.

                                                  XOXO,

Mary Kay eyeshadow primer

Around the time that I started playing around with makeup, there were very few brands accessible in Nigeria. Mary kay was one of the first brands to establish themselves here  through reps  and I believe that all their products that I own are worth the price I paid for them.

Mary kay is and has been for a very long time one of my favourite makeup brands and it kills me that people just take them for granted.
Their eye  primer is literally the first eyeshadow primer I ever used and it is still one of my favourites. I've tried other primers, but at  the end of the day I still go back to this. My lids are very oily so  priming for me is a must. This primer does a very good job, It helps my eyeshadow last all day and prevents it from creasing.

I've tried the urban decay primer potion twice now (I haven't even used half of my second tube) and it has nothing on this (Yes, I said it). It is way cheaper than the UDPP . This is the first thing I apply on my eye area before applying any other thing and it does what it is supposed to do.

The last picture shows the amount I use to prime my eyes, you don't need a lot. Just dab a little on your eyelids and blend it in.

Where to buy: Casabella. You can also buy this from any legit Mary kay sales rep.
Price: N1,500

PS: I'm sorry I haven't been posting regularly, these past couple of days have been very hectic for me.  We finally passed out yesterday so yes, I'm officially done with youth service and I couldn't be happier. The posts will definitely be more regular from now on.

Stella's Addiction

So I went to see my big sister stella last friday. If you've not heard of Stella's Addiction and you live in this country, you are on a loooong thing, lol.

Stella's addiction was literally the first Nigerian beauty blog I started reading. According to her  she started blogging in 2010 but I feel like I started reading her blog way before that. I first ambushed her after sunday service, I saw her during mass and I was like is this stella??? I just had  to confirm so I literally ran her after Immediately  we dismissed mass. You people should have seen me running in my takpas (pencil) skirt.

I was interested in a couple of products that I've seen her use on her blog so to her store I went, no dulling.
She carries a lot of my favourite brands and her prices are very decent. She broke down a lot of things to me and answered all my questions. There is nothing better than gisting  makeup with a pro.

She Offers professional Makeup services for literally every occasion, specialises in false lash application and is also  an Eyebrow wizard. I say wizard because I saw her thread a lady's brows and an arch came out of no where.

She carries brands like sleek, Kiko, Peggy Sage, Bdelluim tools, Fashion fair, Urban Decay, Magnolia, Glamcor, Mary Kay, NYX, etc.

The last picture shows my very tiny haul. I bought two magnolia eyeshadows in Shero and Fluer De fab,one Magnolia matte lip fix, One duo lash adhesive and a Real technique setting brush. Reviews are coming shortly.

Her store/makeup studio is located in No 10 Balarabe Musa Crescent, Victoria Island Lagos right inside the Apples and Oranges spa.

                                                  XOXO,

Ben Nye glitter glue

I've been searching for something that will hold  glitter in place  for the longest time, so I was very very excited when I saw this bad boy. This glue was in my last haul post, It was one of the few things I purchased from the Gifty's daughter store.

DIRECTIONS:
Brush thin layer onto skin. Apply sparklers, glitter, small rhinestones or similar accent to glue with brush or fingertips . Press lightly to set.

WHAT I THINK:
I've used this a few times and its amazing. A thin coat is really all you need. I just apply a thin layer  of glue wherever I want, then I pat the glitter into the wet glue then let it dry.
With this, there is little or no fall out so you don't have to constantly dust glitter off your face.

This glue is primarily used for applying glitter on the body and it isn't really advisable that you use it on the immediate eye area (It states that on the bottle) so you have to be very very careful if you decide to use this on the eye are. It fumes a little so your eyes might water a little bit when you first apply it.  If your eyes are very sensitive I'll advise you skip this completely. I use glitter once in a blue moon so this will do till I find a better alternative.

The consistency is almost like water so it is very liquidy (If that makes any sense). It comes  in a little jar that has a brush in the lid and you get 29ml of product.

Purchased from - Gifty's Daughter
Price - N3,500

Eco styler gel, Olive oil styling gel

I have very dry hair and one of my major problems has always been keeping my edges tame. If you people see my hair two weeks post relaxer eh, you will run. Before I started using Eco styler gel, I was using the Organic Root stimulator (ORS) edge control. I absolutely hated it because every strand of hair that had gel on it sprang back up 10 minutes after application so it literally did me no good. I occasionally tried other products maybe something from my mum or sister and they usually did nothing for me.

After sometime I started looking for something else. I did a little research and saw a couple of good reviews on the Eco styler gel so I decided to give it a try.

    WHAT ECO STYLER SAYS:

    • Made with 100% Pure olive oil
    • Maximum Hold
    • Helps your scalp regulate its own natural moisturising system
    • No flakes. No tack. Anti-itch
    • Contains UV protection
    • Soft hold

Eco styler Olive oil styling gel is made with 100% pure olive oil. Olive oil helps your scalp regulate its own moisturising system. Olive oil helps attract moisture to the scalp, and holds it in. Like all our styling gels, it is weightless and will leave your hair with a healthy shine and superior hold.

    WHAT I THINK:
I absolutely love this product. It does what it says on the jar and for me that is enough. This product is highly moisturising, does not flake like the ORS edge control, does not leave white residue on my hair and stays put most of the time. The only time I have problems with the way it holds  is when I sweat or when the weather is extremely hot, other than that it holds up pretty well. I bought this very huge jar (32FLoz) because this was the only size that Casabella had in stock at the time and it wasn't really  expensive.

In the last picture you guys can see how sleeked back my edges look and it took just a tiny amount of product to get it to look like that. I use this even when I haven't retouched my hair in a long time and it still manages to work its magic. I also use this when I want to sleek my entire hair back and when I wear a high bun.

This is the best thing I've used for my edges and its hands down amazing.

    Purchased from - Casabella
Price - I got this a long time ago but I'm sure that it wasn't more than N1,500.

                                                      XOXO,

    Orly nail lacquer thinner

I love painting my nails, I absolutely do. So it irritates me when any of my nail polishes especially the expensive ones  thicken on me . I had this problem for the longest time especially with nail colours that I constantly applied. The more I applied them the more they thickened, it was just very frustrating. I knew that the best way to solve this problem was by using a nail polish thinner to thin the polish out but I searched everywhere ( I was in Enugu at the time) and most people didn't even know what it was. A couple of people suggested I try adding nail polish remover to the nail polish. I knew that it would help somewhat but it just didn't sound right. I later read in some articles that nail polish removers usually damaged the consistency of the nail polish and affected its lasting power.

Since It wasn't likely that I would get it here I ordered my first bottle form Amazon.co.uk for £8. I knew someone who was coming back and she just helped me bring it home.

    WHAT ORLY SAYS:
Orly Nail Lacquer thinner restores life to all types of thickened nail Lacquer.
    DIRECTIONS:
Apply 1-2 drops to thickened nail lacquer. Shake well, add more as necessary.

    WHAT I THINK:
I've been in love with this stuff since the first time I used it. I just apply a couple of drops to the thickened lacquer and shake thoroughly. I usually start by applying like 5 drops, then I shake and apply more if needed. If the polish isn't really goopy or thick and I just want to help it apply more evenly I start with 2 drops. The thickness of the nail polish should determine the amount of thinner you start with.

    WHERE TO BUY:
I bought my second bottle from DFT cosmetics in the Adeniran Ogunsanya shopping mall, surulere. Like I've said in previous posts they have a pretty impressive Orly stand.

     PRICE: N1,300

    HOW TO :

    • I started off by applying one coat of Orly nail defense
    • Next I applied one coat of orly bonder
    • After that I applied two coats of Barry M nail polish in Bright purple (303)
    • Next taking a gold striper polish by Jordana called Golden artist (509) , I gently applied the colour to my nails starting from the  bottom to slightly past the middle. I used a striper because I wanted the gold polish to fade out towards the end and with a striper precision is guaranteed.
    • I finished by applying one coat of Seche vite fast drying top coat

Wet n Wild Mega eyes creme liner

Y'all know that Mac fluid line is my one and only (or so I thought). I've been using fluid line ever since I started using gel liners and I've loved it so much that I haven't even bothered trying something else or looking for a cheaper alternative. Yes, I'm faithful like that.

Well like I said in my last post, I ran out of it last week and decided to give this a try.

    WHAT WET N WILD SAYS:

    • Versatile alternative to pencil and liquid liners
    • Blendable formula, lines, shades and contours eyes
    • Precision of a liquid liner with a silkier, softer finish that lasts

Create beautifully defined lines with this rich, creamy formula. Applies effortlessly as it delivers long lasting drama with a velvety finish.

    WHAT I THINK:
Where do I begin??? This thing is freaking amazing! I remember seeing this eyeliner in the past and just passing it up. It comes with a liner brush which I'm not going to use not because its bad or anything but because I have something better. For a free brush though its actually decent.

This liner applies like a dream. I wore it  in a tutorial that I have coming up  and it lasted all day. I even applied it on my waterline (yes, it is that creamy) and it didn't irritate my eyes or even budge, Amamzing!. It is also very very pigmented. The swatch you guys see in the last picture is just one swipe so yes, it is very black.

This baby is verrrry cheap. I usually buy my fluid line for almost N4,000. The price of the fluid line usually varies from store to store but its usually nothing less than N3,500. I got this for just N900 yes N900 If you like I can even type it again N900. This is literally a steal, I'm  defintely going back to get more.

    Purchased from: Gifty's Daughter.

    Gifty's Daughter + Haul

I first heard about Gifty's daughter after the Lagos makeup fair last year. I could not make it to the fair for a couple of reasons but from pictures and posts by bloggers who made it, it  was quite obvious  that  their stand was very popular. I wanted a couple of things from  them and the wanting only intensified when I discovered that they didn't have a store in Lagos. I think they came to the fair from port hacourt at the time.

They finally opened a store in Ikeja early this year, thank goodness!. I managed to squeeze out time on friday and to Ikeja I went, lol.

The store is located in 25a Toyin street, Ikeja. Its very close to water parks and shares the same fence with the Mr Biggs on that street. From the pictures above  you can tell that the place is literally NYX heaven. They also carry products from Ben nyeWet n wildfashion fairUrban DecayArdellRed CherryNarsZ palette, Embryolisse etc. They also sell a lot of professional makeup equipment like makeup boxes, chairs, disposable brushes etc. The lady that I met in the store was well informed and very helpful. There is nothing that irritates me like walking into a store and discovering that the people who work there don't even know what half of the products they sell are used for.

I picked up the wet n wild mega eyes cream liner. I ran out of my fluid line and mac doesn't have it in stock so I decided to try this. I've seen a lot of good reviews on this liner , a lot of people really believe that its comparable to  fluid line. I'll try it out and tell you guys what I think. I got  the Ben nye glitter glue (really really excited about this product)  and an NYX glitter in Disco ball. I also bought two pairs of Ardell wispies, an NYX lipgloss in pinky Natural and a Wet n Wild polish in I Red a good book.

From Left to Right: Orly nail Defence, Orly Bonder, Elf - white, Nabi - Lime light, L.A girl Disco - Can you dig it?, L.A colors - Splash, Seche vite top coat.

    HOW TO:

    • I started off by applying one coat of Orly nail defense on my nails.
    • Waited 5 minutes and applied one coat of Orly bonder.
    • Next I applied two coats of Elf nail polish in white.
    • After it dried completely I applied two coats of Nabi nail polish in Lime light, L.A girl - can you dig it? and L.A colors - splash in stripes on a makeup sponge.
    • Next I gently stamped/dabbed  the nail polish on the sponge directly unto my nails till I got the desired effect. (If you feel the polish isn't  showing up properly as you apply, don't hesitate to reapply thin coats on the sponge).
    • Then I applied two coats of seche vite top coat.

                                                                     XOXO,

I couldn't get a red manicure out of my head so I decided to give myself one. I haven't painted my fingers red in a long long time and now that I have I can't help but wonder what I was thinking.

    HOW TO:
    This manicure is pretty easy.

    • I started off  by applying a base coat. For this manicure I used Orly calcium shield as my base coat.
    • Next I applied two coats of Nabi neon red polish on all my fingers excluding the middle finger. For that finger I did just one coat of the red polish.
    • After that I applied two coats of Milani Red sparkle on my middle finger
    • Then I finished off by applying one coat of seche Vite fast drying top coat.

    Bio Oil

Yes, the notorious Bio Oil.  I remember when this stuff first made its debut, everyone was  literally talking about it. If you are reading this, I'm sure you know at least one person who uses this stuff. I personally know people who swear by this oil and then I know people who absolutely hate it.

I didn't even have this in mind the day I picked it up, It just happened, lol. I went straight to the aisle were they had beauty products, grabbed my lotion turned to leave and then bam!!!!  there it was.  There was a whole shelf dedicated to this stuff. I think there was a promo going on at the time so I just grabbed the smallest bottle there and left. I decided then and there to give it a try and judge for my self.

    WHAT I THINK:
    This little guy surprised me!
I  bought this solely for my stretch marks ( yes I have those, You tend to get a couple of them when you are stretching vertically or horizontally). I immediately started applying it on them and within two weeks there was visible result. Ehhmm my stretch marks didn't disappear oo but there was visible improvement  in the way they looked. I so did't expect that.
I know this is an oil so I expected it to be greasy but believe you me It was not, It absorbed quite nicely  into the skin. This oil is scented. The smell isn't bad or anything but some people might not like it.

Unfortunately I bought this in march, when we were literally roasting so I  just had to stop using it after sometime. This product is very moisturising like seriously moisturising. It doesn't feel greasy or anything but it still moisturises deeply. I had to stop using  it then because the weather was unbearably hot and I just didn't need that type of "moisturisation", Thank you. The weather is gradually calming down so I've started using it again. This will be perfect during the dry season though, can't wait to try it then.

With this, a little goes a long way. You don't need that much,  a drop might be all you need.

    Morange

I've wanted an orange lipstick for the longest time and I was actually thinking of getting vegas volt but when I got to the Mac store I actually fell in love with Morange.
Morange is a neon orange and literally the only orange lipstick I own. It is very very opaque, not for those who like it subtle. It has an amplified finish which adds to its appeal. I honestly don't think I would love this lipstick if it had a matte finish.
With this you just have to make sure that your lips are moisturised before application. It helps the lipstick apply evenly and  also helps it look better.

    Price: N3,800
Where to buy: You can get this at any mac store.

                                               XOXO,

    Mac Fix +

WHAT MAC SAYS: An aqua-spritz of vitamin and minerals, infused with a calm-the-skin blend of green tea, chamomile, cucumber, topped off with the fresh, natural, energizing scent of Sugi. Adds radiance, finishes makeup. Spray it on. Skin drinks it up!

    ME:
I've had this for a very long time. The hype was too much at the time so I gave in and got it. I have very oily skin and back then anything that could make my foundation last longer was a must have.
It didn't take me long to discover that this was a finishing spray, lol. This did not help my makeup last in any way!! So please do not spray this on your face thinking that it would make your makeup last longer.

    HOW I USE IT:

    • I  only use this on my face when I feel that the foundation I've applied is too matifying. I like matte foundations oh but please I do not like looking like a ghost. When I do this, it gives the foundation a more natural finish and prevents it from looking cakey.
    • I spray a little on my powder brush when I want to get full coverage from a powder or powder foundation.
    • I spray it on my eyeshadow brush when I want the colour I'm applying to appear more vibrant. It makes the brush damp and helps the colour stick more to it. I do this mostly with loose eyeshadow or pigment.
    • I also use this on my gel products that have dried up or are about to dry up. I spray just a tiny bit on what ever it is and we are good to go.
Where to buy: Mac store, Ikeja city mall.

    So thats it!
How do you use your Fix + ?

                                                        XOXO,

    Ben Nye banana powder

If  you haven't heard of the Ben nye banana powder sit back and let me gist  you. Ben nye is make up brand that specialises in stage and theatrical makeup. Their powders especially the banana powder became very popular last year after news got out that kim kardashian's makeup artist uses it on her.

The banana powder became really popular  with women of colour because it suits almost every skin tone and and it also doesn't leave a grey or ashy cast on the skin.

Finally got my hands on it thank goodness and It sure is worth the hype. This is currently what I use to set the  highlighted areas of my face  and I absolutely love it. The last picture shows what it looks like blended into the skin and you guys can see that it has little or no colour pay off (depending on the amount you use). For dark skinned chicas like me a little goes a long way. I have oily skin and this holds up pretty well.

The only thing I don't like about this product is the way it is packaged. I'm generally not a fan of loose powders, I prefer it when my powders are pressed but since this is the only way it comes, I will manage, lol.

    Price - N3,500

    Current Favorites: Hair

ELASTA QP OLIVE OIL AND MANGO BUTTER MOISTURISER: I have very dry hair and this works wonders. This product is very thick so you don't need that much, a little goes a long way. My hair loves this stuff. I mostly apply this on my edges before I apply gel or edge control. It keeps my hair moisturised and prevents the gel from drying out my hair.

CANTU SHEA BUTTER GROW STRONG STRENGTHENING TREATMENT: I think that this is hands down the best leave-in conditioner I've tried. It is very light weight and  absorbs easily into the hair. I love that it does not make my hair feel waxy or greasy..amazing. I don't straighten or curl my hair without using this.

ELASTA QP LEAVE IN H2: This is my go to product when I have braids on. It is a liquid conditioner that comes in a spray bottle. I spray this on my roots before styling my braids and it really does what it says on the bottle (which is moisturise!). I don't recommend this for every day use though especially If you are carrying braids that you are not likely wash. Constant use could lead to product build up and you know how itchy that can get.

OKAY 100% PURE COCONUT OIL: This is just good old coconut oil. You can pour this in a jar and put it in the fridge or somewhere cool to make it solid. I personally like mine like this, I use this to seal my hair moisturiser or leave in conditioner. I also add this to my conditioner when I deep condition.

Has anyone tried any of these products?

                                                     XOXO,

    Black Up perfect mattifying primer

I've been using the black up perfect matifying primer for over a year now. I fell in love with it because of how light it felt on my skin and also  because of the fact that it didn't break me out. This primer didn't come cheap.  I just repurchased it for N8,300 and it is currently the most expensive face product I own.
Like I've mentioned in previous posts I have very oily skin and I break out within two days of using anything my face doesn't like. So I'm very very picky when it comes to the stuff that I put on my face.
I believe that of all the foundation primers I've tried this has done the best job. It holds up pretty well under any type of foundation and its a clear gel which simply adds to its appeal to me. I personally do not like foundation primers that are white or have any kind colour to them because with most products like that blending is usually problem.

Black up changed the packaging of this primer mid last year and according to them the formula was improved as well.  The third picture is a side by side comparison of the old and new bottle. The only difference I've noticed so far is in the consistency. The old primer was slightly thicker than this one. I recently had to repurchase because I ran out of the one I bought march last year (yes, It lasted me a whole year).  I bought the new one from the Black up stand in Montaigne place, the palms shopping mall, lekki.

                                                     XOXO,

    For the love of Mac

Mac is finally here!!! I first heard that they were coming to Nigeria in December and you guys couldn't begin to imagine how excited I was. They opened their first store at Ikeja city mall last month and I'm still patiently waiting for them to open the one at the palms.

I went to the store in Ikeja  with the intention of repurchasing my studio finish concealer in NW45 and getting a few lipsticks.
The store looked like most mac stores I've been to.  The layout out  made everything easy to find and accessible. I know this is a computer generated image but I think the store looks exactly like  this.  I didn't bother going there with my camera because I know that Ikeja city mall has something against taking pictures inside a store. I wish I had pictures to show you guys though.

They had most of the things I asked for  but some lipsticks were out of stock  including ruby woo.

I bought the studio finish concealer in NW45 and two lipsticks in Up the Amp and Cyber. The lipsticks which sell for $15 dollars in the US and £14 in the UK sold for N3,800 each and the concealer which sells for $18 in the US and £14.50 in the UK sold for N4000. Americans are so lucky!

Up the Amp -  Gorgeous lavender colour with an amplified creme finish. The colour pay off is amazing. I'm sure that I'm going to wear the heck outta this lipstick.

Cyber- beautiful eggplant/intense dark purple colour  with a satin finish. This lipstick is not for the faint hearted. I know that I considered getting this  several times but  always changed my mind the second I was about to pay. Its extremely creamy and perfect for those who like it vampy.

Mac studio finish concealer in NW45- this concealer is my favourite Mac concealer ever. I use it to conceal spots when I have any and I also use it to define my brows. It doesn't break me out so its just perfect. If you have oily skin and nothing seems to be working please consider trying this stuff.

Has anyone gone to the Mac store?

                                                  XOXO,

    Swatched: Avon Speed Dry

These five polishes were in my first ever haul post. I bought them at the beginning of my nail polish craze and like I said in that post the speed dry sold it for me. They dry very very fast. Paired with a fast drying top coat, these babies could dry completely under 15 minutes. From top to bottom - mink, fusion, red wine, crystal calm and vamp it up.

has anyone tried avon speed dry?

                                                            xoxo,

    Prestige

I went to Ikeja city mall last week to check out the new Mac store. Before I left the mall I decided to buy some toiletries from poise. To cut the story short I left there with two lipsticks, some false lashes and no toiletry.

I actually don't own that many lip products, my staple lipsticks are from mac and they are not that many. I usually stick with conventional everyday colours when it comes to lip products and stay away from the bright colours especially the pink ones. I think I own just two pink lipsticks and with the pinks the darker/deeper the better for me lol. I'm gradually  adding colours I won't usually buy to my collection. I've decided to find ways to make them work.
I bought two lipsticks by a brand called prestige. The lipsticks were sold for N1,000 each.

V.I.P (CL-62A)- this is a lovely nude colour with a little bit of pink in it. This lipstick isn't matte, it has a little bit of sheen to it. I didn't find it drying which to me is very important. There is nothing more annoying than lipsticks that just dry up on you, tueh!

STOP! (CL-85A) - this is a bright coral pink lipstick with little bits of shimmer in it. It Isn't matte and  just like V.I.P it has some sheen to it. I don't think the picture does it justice though. I can't wait to try this lipstick out with different lip liners.

Has anyone tried anything from prestige?

                                                                        XOXO,

    Review: Real Techniques Core Collection

The brush that got me interested in the set is the buffing brush. I was using the elf powder brush at the time for foundation application and it just wasn't cutting it for me.
I've had them for close to a year now and they don't know what shedding is! they just don't. I'm a freak when it comes to washing brushes and these look and feel the same way they did the day I received  them.
I just wish that the handles were smaller though. They are just FAT and that FATNESS makes storing them in holders difficult sometimes. Other than that eh, they are perfect.

I bought the set from victoriahealth.com for £20.99 which is like N5,130. These brushes are worth every penny I spent on them!

BUFFING BRUSH - this brush I think makes most people buy the collection  purely for itself due to the fact that it isn't sold separately. Its with no debate my favourite brush in the collection because it applies any kind of foundation like a dream.

CONTOUR BRUSH - what i love most about this brush is the size. It fits the hollows of my cheeks perfectly and that on its own just makes contouring easier for me.

POINTED FOUNDATION BRUSH - I mainly use this brush to apply  concealer. The size of the brush and the way it is built makes it perfect for applying and blending out concealer.

DETAILER BRUSH - I have a couple of lip brushes but this little guy here trumps them all. It says on the pack they came in that it can also be used for concealer  but I think its way too small for that. This I think is  perfect for lipstick and lip colour application.

Has any one tried this collection?

                                                                               XOXO,

    Flower me pretty

    Hello everyone,
    hope y'all are good.

The weather in Lagos is just plain weird! It's been raining and I'm still trying to wrap my head around the whole thing. For those of you who don't understand why this is an issue, this is Nigeria! rain is not supposed to know who january is.

For this look I used mostly matte colours on the eyes. The colour on  my lips is the  world famous ruby woo, this lipstick gives me life!.
I made a video showing how I created this look, so please guys check it out.

    Zaron

    Hello guys,
    hope everyone is good.

Since this is my first post of 2013, HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!. I pray 2013 brings us nothing but happiness, Amen.

If you stay in lagos, I'm sure  you've come across  this brand. I for one saw their products  everywhere before I finally gave in and bought some of their stuff. It's owned by a Nigerian I think (not really sure). The first things  I bought from them was an eyeliner pencil , a lip liner  and a lip gloss. I bought the lip liner from Ebeano supermarket in lekki phase I and the lip gloss and eyeliner pencil from konga.com.
The lip liner and eyeliner pencils were absolutely amazing! I also loved how long the lip gloss lasted on my lips so I decided to try more of their products.

My sister was in lagos last week and she wanted to buy the eyeliner pencil after she tried mine and fell in love with  it, so we went to their store in ikoyi last weekend and here are some of the things I got.

    LIP PENCILS
I got two lip pencils, fussy fuchsia (EZ08) which is a bright fuchsia pink and brick chick (EZ01) a dark reddened purple . These babies apply like a dream!.
    Price- N750 (each)

left: brick chick. right: fussy fuchsia

    LIP BALM
I got one lip balm. This lip balm has no colour to it, its just a good old lip balm. This one is called orange crush (SZ01) and it smells just like orange.
    Price - N700

    LIP GLOSSES
I got two lip glosses, one is called fairst (QZ13) and the other is called sugar plum (QZ02). I've  seen sugar plum a couple of times but this was my first time seeing fairst! The colour is absolutely gorgeous  and I think its relatively new as well. The two have a very thick texture but they apply easily and last all day.
    Price - N1,420 (each)

    fairst

    sugar plum

Has anyone tried products form Zaron?

    xoxo,

hey guys, hope everyone is good.
I have a couple of new stuff to show you guys. some of them I purchased recently some of them I've had since march. I haven't really tried out some of the things in this post but I hope to follow them up with reviews.

I'm currently doing my NYSC so I don't want to make any promises. I'm working now so time isn't really my best friend but I promise  to put out more posts from now on so help me God. Amen.

I got three cala makeup brushes. I bought  the three  of them from casabella in the palms shopping mall. The brushes were on display on the counter, typical me had to just go feel them. The crease brush felt amazing and that to me was enough. I got a crease brush (N1,840) , a small eye shadow brush (N1,840) and a lip brush (N1,700). The packaging to me was also super cute. I love the little suede sleeves they came in.

Mary kay eye shadow primer. I got this from Casbella (N1,500) in the polo park shopping mall, Enugu.

Black Opal Invisible oil Blocking Powder (1,650). I've seen lots of you tubers and bloggers rave about this. Decided to give in and give it a try. I got this from konga.com

Black up fluid foundation in FL09 I.  I didn't intend to buy this foundation, my friend Fejiro made me do it, lol. We went  to the black up store in Ikeja city mall to try out the cream to powder foundation but for some reason it didn't sit well on  her skin. and then they tried the fluid foundation on her and it looked absolutely amazing. I just had to get it.

Black Up cream to power foundation in FC 11 (£27). I'm sure that y'all have noticed from my previous posts that the Black up cream to powder foundation is literally the only foundation I wear. Its not like Its the only foundation I own but I just absolutely love it. I own a lot of foundation but at the end of the day I usually go back to this one because it DOES NOT BREAK ME OUT! which most liquid foundations do. I got this back in march but I decided to add it to this post .

Black Up Lipstick in M17. I went into Black Up looking for an orange lipstick, something comparable to Mac's morange but not as  bright. I ended up going with this. It's a matte  Orangey red lipstick. I got this for N4,350 or so, not really sure.

Sleek Blush by 3 palette in sugar (£10).

LASHES..... these are mostly the the ardell wispies(N1,300) and demi wispies (N1,550). I bought them from casbellla.

Nail polish. I'm going to swatch theses as soon as I can.  Salley Hansen Xtreme wear nail colour in  33 pacific Blue (N500) and 150 Sun Kissed (N500)  Shop Beauty corncerns , Saka Tinibu. Orly Nail Laquer - Glowstick (N1,500) . Shop DFT cosmetics in the Adeniran Ogunsanya shopping mall. L.A girl Disco brites nail polish in Can you Dig It? (N450) and L.A colors nail laquer in French white (N450)Shop poise In Ikeja city mall.

Notd: This middle finger won't hold me back

    hey guys,
I've decided to start making Nail of the day posts. I've been into nail polishes and nail designs of late and I've decided to start sharing them with you guys.  so here is the mani that I'm currently rocking.

    without flash

    with flash

First I started off with bare nails

as y'all can see my middle finger thought breaking off was funny so it decided to try it (sigh)

     ONE

I applied my first base coat. I usually get by with just one base coat but I think that this little guy right here is the reason why my nails are so strong!

Sally Hansen DOUBLE DUTY strengthening base and top coat

    TWO

I applied my second base coat. I apply this after applying the first base coat because it makes my whole manicure last longer.

    Orly Bonder. Rubberised Base coat

    THREE

I applied this very opaque black polish. One coat will do with this polish.

Sleek nail polish - Eclipse 41

    FOUR

After 5 minutes I used a makeup sponge to dab this silver glitter nail polish on the tips of all my nails minus the middle finger. I just did 2 coats of nail polish on that one.

Jordana nail polish - 208 Silver Glitter

    FIVE

I finished  off by applying a fast drying top coat

    Sally Hansen Insta-Dri
    ALL DONE

Here is everything including my nail polish remover, nail polish thinner, pure acetone and nail brush for clean ups, and Glass nail file .

I hope you guys like :)

ANKARA INSPIRED FOTD: FUCHSIA AND TEAL

    Hey guys,
hope y'all are good. The look I'm wearing in this post was obviously inspired by the piece of ankara I have on my head. The colours on the material are teal, fuchsia pink, white and black. I was a little bit disappointed when i first saw the pictures because the teal didn't show up the way I wanted it to. So the colour i have on my eyelid that looks like blue isn't blue at all but TEAL!!!.

Hey guys, hope y'all are good.
the rains have finally come and i couldn't be any happier.  I love  love love the rainy season and I think its on its way.
so I was looking for an excuse to wear my Russian red lipstick yesterday.. I just had to make it happen and I did lol.
it wasn't sunny at all yesterday so some of the pictures are not that bright.

i think  this is now my favorite red lipstick. and yes i love this more than i do ruby woo. it's much much brighter and less drying.
