WHY I STOPPED BEING A MAKEUP ARTIST

  1. hahaha. The first reason is legit.

I have this belief that family and friends (plus anyone who comes through them) should be obligated to pay upfront (even more than unknown clients where possible) to show they support you. I loathe that thing familiar people do; trying to get goods and services for free. It shows they don't love and care about your business. I give arm's length to whoever does it the first time. You ain't fooling me twice.

If I patronise people I know, I don't bargain too hard. Sometimes I pay more. It's supporting them.

Good decision. And don't go back except you're being paid an exceptional premium upfront.

  3. Hmmm, lol the most devastating one was when I was in Nysc camp, and our platoon officer told me to do make up for our platoon contestant for miss nysc that he would pay the next day, I did the makeup and after the man refused to pay till I left camp, I even wanted to go and report to the camp commandant but I just later let it slide, I even called the man like few days before we left camp, he said he will pay, even while he was given us our posting letters I made sure he saw my face but there was no guilt. My dear people are wicked, have experienced a lot more, people that will be begging you to reduce price for them and they will go and pay more to "known" makeup artists and they will come and tell you your work was better.
