Hey guys, so i've decided to show you guys my makeup brushes. I will be showing you guys my current makeup brushes and what i use them for. I've collected quite a few over the past couple of years. I started out with the basic ones like the powder brush, blush brush, eyeshadow brush, crease brush ( I think) but its grown so much since then
EVERYTHING

UPSTAGE SMALL FLAT TOP POWDER BRUSH- I use this mainly for liquid foundation. To me this is a smaller version of the elf powder brush. I like this a lot cause it gets into the inner corners of my face.
ELF POWDER BRUSH- I know this is a powder brush but it applies liquid foundation like a dream. I gave in and got this after seeing and reading numerous reviews on it. It makes liquid foundation application easier cause all you basically have to do is stipple and blend and it doesn't leave streaks.
QVC FOUNDATION AND CONCEALER BRUSH - This is a dual ended foundation and concealer brush but i mostly use the foundation brush. I use this for cream to powder foundation. I've tried some other foundation brushes like this but i just keep going back to this. I like this a lot cause the bristles are supper soft. It also doesn't scratch my face during foundation application which i think is very important.
EYESHADOW BRUSHES

1) COASTAL SCENTS PENCIL BRUSH- This and some of my other brushes came from a set. This is one of the few brushes I like from that brush set. I mostly use this to apply color to my tear duct.
2) COASTAL SCENTS SMALL SHADER BRUSH- I use this to apply color on mostly the inner and outer corners of my eyelids.
3) MAC 224 BRUSH- I love love love this brush. this is a blending brush. I know it can also be used to blend out concealer and foundation but I mostly use it to blend my eyeashadow.
4) MAC 239 BRUSH- I use this to pack color onto my eyelid. The length of this brush is perfect for my eyelids as it is not too short or too long. This is perfect for applying color all over the lid.
5) MAC 217 BRUSH - I mostly use this to blend out my crease color
6) COASTAL SCENTS C408 CHISEL SHADER BRUSH - I use this brush to apply highlight color to my brow bone . Its a very flat and short brush.

7) COASTAL SCENTS PRECISION BRUSH - I use this to apply color under my waterline and sometimes on my tear duct. Its a very very small brush which makes it perfect for applying color on the very small parts of the eye.
8) UPSTAGE EYESHADOW BRUSH - This is a very good eyeshadow brush. I used to use this all the time before i got the mac 239 brush last year. The only problem i have with this brush is the length its slightly longer than the mac 239 and that makes it difficult to use sometimes.
9) UPSTAGE CREASE BRUSH - This is my favorite crease brush. Its a tapered brush but I know that's not very obvious in the picture. It gets the color exactly where you want it. i use this to place color on my crease before blending it out with the MAC 217 brush.
10) UPSTAGE PENCIL EYESHADOW BRUSH - This is just a smaller version of the crease brush. I use this mostly when I'm trying to be precise when applying color to my crease.
POWDER BRUSHES

UPSTAGE POWDER BRUSH - This is a very soft powder brush. I use this to apply powder all over the face.
UPSTAGE FIRM ANGLED BRUSH - I use this mostly when i'm applying powder foundation. Its a very soft and firm brush. The fact that its firm makes it idle when going for fuller coverage which powder foundations tend to give.
ELF KABUKI FACE BRUSH- I use this when i'm trying to apply any type of powder lightly. The bristles are very very soft .
BLUSH/CONTOUR BRUSHES

COASTAL SCENTS ANGLED BRUSH- I mostly use this for contouring.
COASTAL SCENTS BLUSH BRUSH- I use this to apply blush. I also use it for bronzer sometimes.
I've had these two brushes for a long time now and i won't say they are the best. The both of them came in a brush set i bought two years ago and I'm sure I will be changing them very soon. the bristles are not soft at all and they shed a lot.
CONCEALER BRUSHES

COASTAL SCENTS ROUND FLAT TOP ANGLED BRUSH- I use this brush a lot. It is a very good brush for stippling and blending concealer.
MAC 194 BRUSH- Someone actually got this brush for me by mistake. I mostly use this to conceal spots.
MULTI-PURPOSE BRUSHES

COASTAL SCENTS FLAT SYNTHETIC BRUSH - I use this when applying cream eyeshadows, primers,or eyeshadow base.
SIGMA SMALL ANGLE E-65 BRUSH- I use this when I fill my eyebrows in with brow powder.
ECOTOOLS BAMBOO ANGLED EYELINER BRUSH - This is a very good gel eyeliner brush but i use it mostly to define my eyebrows (with concealer) . This is one of my favorite brushes ever. I highly recommend this brush!!!.
TIP: when buying eyeshadow and powder brushes, stick to those with natural bristles because they tend to hold powders very well. If you are buying foundation brushes stick to brushes with synthetic bristles because they apply cream and liquid products better.
TO MAKE THINGS A LITTLE BIT CLEARER ( especially with the eyeshadow brushes)
PS: has anybody tried any good blush or contour brush?. I wouldn't mind recommendations :-)

ReplyDeleteI luv the blush brush that comes in the elf studio 11 piece brush collection(I'm in luv with almost all the brushes). It's small enough for coutouring because it is a tapered brush. I don't use any of my other blush brushes anymore. Luv the elf powder brush for foundation too cuz it cuts application time by a lot!
ReplyDeleteI love the Upstage Firm Angled brush. It applies foundation so nicely and gives full coverage. I also love the Ecotools angled brush, I use it to apply gel eyeliner but after watching your eyebrow tut, I will try using it for brow definition with concealer. I love your work hun! stay blessed
ReplyDeletewhere did you get them from? would like to get good brushes too.
